Hello deviants!
I have a new challenge for you!
But before I start with the explanations, please remember that:
1. Participation is not obligatory for members of FeatureChallenge and being a member does not automatically enter you as a participant. Likewise, membership in FeatureChallenge is not obligatory to participate (although if you’re not a member yet and you’d like to be one, membership requests are automatically approved).
2. If you decide to enter, you should follow the rules of the game written below.
3. In this game we’ll encourage positiveness, enthusiasm, open-mindedness and supportiveness as well as a little creativity.
4. Your help to spread the word about this challenge will be very much appreciated, so feel free to write a journal about it, link it in your comment signature or on your profile, or something else you can think of.
Now that that’s done, let’s get to the point.
Even though FeatureChallenge is a relatively new group and isn’t exactly like most groups in deviantART, we promised you to support you and encourage you to support and get to know each other too. So I thought we could do something special for Christmas.
What FaB in FaBulous actually stands for is Feature a Buddy. So I’m announcing next month to be our very first (and hopefully not last) Feature a Buddy December aka FaBulous December.
Each participant will write a feature for two of the others. That’s basically all there is to it. But since we’re trying to make it special (and somewhat like a Christmas present) the features will need to be a little more than just a few deviations featured in your journals. You’ll have to take a proper stroll through the deviants’ galleries and maybe journals too, get to know them and their art better, and then show us what you’ve learned about your featurees. Tell us what you like and feel about them and their art. Arrange your features accordingly. Be creative!
Of course, you might need to feature an artist who works in a style that is not from your usually preferred ones, but try to keep an open mind, a positive attitude and be supportive. You might just make a new friend.
You might wonder why I’m writing all of this already in November. The reason is that this month you can decide whether or not you’ll participate in this group event. To sign up just comment below saying you’d like to and I’ll add you to the list of participants. When you enter you’ll receive a number which will later be used to determine the feature partners through random.org. Remember: the sign-up ends on 30th November 2012, 23:59:59 UTC!
And now, about next month:
Here you have a sort of timetable for the events in December.
01.11.2012 – 30.11.2012 Sign-up
01.12.2012 – 02.12.2012 Secret Buddies
03.12.2012 – 09.12.2012 Phase 1: Feature a Buddy
10.12.2012 – 16.12.2012 Phase 2: Feature your Featurer
17.12.2012 – 23.12.2012 Phase 3: Submit your Features
24.12.2012 Opening the Folder
A little more about the separate parts of the challenge:
01.12.2012 – 02.12.2012 Secret Buddies
In these two days I’ll use random.org to determine the Feature Partners. I’ll then note all participants to tell them who their feature buddies are. The partners arrangement is to be kept secret for all the time before Phase 2.
03.12.2012 – 09.12.2012 Phase 1: Feature a Buddy
It’s time to find out as much as you can about your Feature Buddy through their gallery, journal, favourites, comments, critiques, etc. Try not to make it too obvious that you’ll be featuring them, it should be a secret for the time being!
Prepare resources for your feature journal, but do not post it yet!
10.12.2012 – 16.12.2012 Phase 2: Feature your Featurer
The final partners arrangement will be announced in the journal. Then it’ll be time to do the same as in Phase 1 for your Featurer, of course, with the difference in that it’s not a secret anymore. In this week you can ask both your Featurees questions to get to know them better.
Again, prepare resources for your feature journal, but do not post it yet! Let’s try to keep the presents packed and hidden in the cupboard just a little longer!
17.12.2012 – 23.12.2012 Phase 3: Submit your Features
Now it’s time to submit your feature journals!
Write a separate one for each of your featurees, entitled "Fabulous December for …" or something similar. It would be considered nice of you to write in short about the whole project in it, but it’s not obligatory.
Submit your journals (in this case, surprisingly) as late as you can (but before the week runs out!), to make it less tempting for the featurees to open their presents early. Try not to look at the journals featuring you either just yet (if you can ).
Please submit your features to the folder in the group gallery (Yes, I’ll make a separate folder for this! ) and send me (reggar) the links to both your feature journals in a note.
24.12.2012 Opening the Folder
On Christmas Eve I’ll open the folder with the feature journals for all to see. That will mark the end of the event. After that I’d be glad to hear your opinions of how it went, what could be better, if you’d like to have something like that again next year, etc. I’ll also make a smaller wrap-up feature for all participants in my journal with deviations from their galleries and links to all the features from the game.
That’s it, I guess. Please feel free to comment and sign up as well as telling me your opinion and suggestions.
Have a nice day and happy featuring!

Collaborative Features - Literature Month
Hello deviants! :)
As you can see, we're renewing the Collaborative Features! :dummy:
However, there will be some changes soon - starting September, Brookette (https://www.deviantart.com/brookette) will be our new Collaborative Features Supervisor! This means she will be writing, updating and re-submitting the future CF journals, and she will also write the polls - you can already vote for September's theme here. I'll still be sure to see all your awesome suggestions and be a participant, though. :)
On to this month:
Firstly, a thank you to ReginesArtwork (https://www.deviantart.com/reginesartwork) for her wonderful suggestions for our last CF Special from earlier this year! :aww:
And the long-awaited (I hope
A Year Already!
Hello all! :)
I know it's been a while since the last journals and updates here in the group, unfortunately I'd been away for some time, but now I'm back and just in time for a somewhat special occasion - today, July 11th, is FeatureChallenge (https://www.deviantart.com/featurechallenge)'s first anniversary! Can you believe this group's already a year old? :dummy:
As I'm writing this entry we have 231 members and 261 watchers - amazing, right? I want to thank you all for joining in, participating, sharing your ideas and your features, as well as putting up with us at all. :D I know sometimes things have gotten in the way and there have been some difficulties and organisation probl
Collaborative Features Special #3 - Love
Hello deviants! :)
Firstly, I'd like to thank our featurer TinyWild (https://www.deviantart.com/tinywild) for her wonderful suggestions for the last CF Special! :aww:
Now, I hope you've all had a great Valentine's Day. To make the celebrations longer, tatsuyabocchan (https://www.deviantart.com/tatsuyabocchan) and I decided to make this CF's theme "Love". :la:
So comment here with the thumbcodes of deviations you've chosen (not links, but thumbcodes, please, to make adding them easier and faster) and links to groups hosting theme-related artwork. No limit on number of featurers, featurees, group and deviation suggestions, as well as mediums and styles of the suggested deviations. And, this time, you can suggest
Collaborative Features Special #2 - Holidays
Hello deviants! :)
Firstly, I'd like to thank last month's featurers ReginesArtwork (https://www.deviantart.com/reginesartwork), TinyWild (https://www.deviantart.com/tinywild), Debbysh (https://www.deviantart.com/debbysh), and tatsuyabocchan (https://www.deviantart.com/tatsuyabocchan) for their wonderful suggestions for November's CFs! :aww:
As you know, the end of the year is already near and the holidays are almost here! So here's another "Mixed" Special with an obviousness in the chosen theme - "Holidays and Celebrations throughout the Year"! (And that means all kinds of celebrations you can think of - Christmas, New Year, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, birthdays, anniversaries, national holidays, etc. :la:)
So comment here for the rest of the month with the thumbcodes of de
